History

Ryunosuke Satoro At Barnes Mossman our aim is for our team to create great partnerships with clients to help you grow successful businesses.

The company was first formed in 1996 by Peter Barnes and Cynthia Kirk, who had a vision to work alongside their clients in all aspects of their business.

Both Peter and Cynthia had been working in a large accountancy firm and were keen to escape the restrictions of a national organisation.

Their new company, known then as Barnes Kirk, soon moved into a purpose-built building on the corner of Market & Eastbourne Streets in Hastings. Over a decade later, the company is still located there.

When Cynthia moved to Auckland in 2001, Tony Mossman joined the team and was so impressed with the practice he became a partner two years later. This led to a company name change - Barnes Mossman - the name we recognise today.

In 2006 Nick Chrystall joined the team as a partner and two years later the company merged with Geenty Walsh & Partners, a medium sized, local accounting practice with similar ideals and values. Kerry Walsh and Dick Geenty are now consultants for Barnes Mossman with Elizabeth Carr the fourth director in the team.

In 2008 the acquisition of an accountancy practice in Waipawa allowed Barnes Mossman to run an office servicing the Central Hawke's Bay region.
